I Believe

When I read Amber’s Manifesto for her life I loved it. I loved it so much I wanted to writing something similar for myself, something I could hold out and point to when I needed a reminder of who I am. A list of the things that shape me.
This is my list.
I believe in most cases, natural is better. I want to strive to choose the natural over the artificial. And when I can’t, for whatever reason, I want it to be motivation to try again next time. I know I will often fail, that I will be unable to choose the natural options. But that does not stop me from understanding that natural is better.
I believe simplicity will bring me far more happiness than chasing after the next new thing. I want to reduce what I have to only the things that make me happy, and care for them so that they last. I want to step away from the disposable world and material wealth.
I believe we only have one earth and we have to care for it now. I want to lower my footprint, opt for reusable products, and try to make my own little space more earth-friendly.
I believe my role as a mother is immensely important. It should be treated as an important job, and with it important responsibilities. I see most of my parenting choices as in-line with my other lifestyle choices. Breastfeeding, natural birth, attachment parenting, and others are part of my overall ideals of the world.
